Summer is one of my favorite seasons for outdoor enjoyment. One is able to get outside and do all sorts of things, such as gardening, yard sales, etc.. If you happen to have pets of the equine or canine sort, you might have to endure the pesky issue of flies during the warm summer months. I have inside and outside dogs, and also have family members with horses. This easy DIY spray can really help without having to use harsh chemical sprays you can find in animal feed stores.
- White Vinegar
- Coconut Oil
- Dish Soap
- 100% Pure Rosemary Oil
- 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil
- 100% Pure Citronella Oil
- Empty Spray Bottle
Start by filling your bottle about 95% full with your white vinegar. If needed heat your coconut oil in it’s glass jar, within a pot of water, until its liquid. Take care to not burn yourself or the oil, it doesn’t need to be boiling. Funnel some of your oil into your spray bottle, filling it almost to the top. Add a squirt of dish soap, or two squirts for a bigger spray bottle. Here is how to add your oils depending on your bottle size:
For 24 oz. Spray Bottles
Add 20 drops of Rosemary Oil, 25 drops of Tea Tree Oil and 20 drops of Citronella Oil.
For 32 oz. Spray Bottles
Add 30 drops of Rosemary Oil, 37 drops of Tea Tree Oil, and 30 drops of Citronella Oil.
For application: Shake spray bottle before use. Spray horses and outside dogs daily.
It’s that easy! I love to use the “as natural as possible route” in all aspects of my life. Yes, it can be hard, and at times more expensive, to live more naturally. However, the overall benefits outlast more convenient methods you can use. Oils can uplift the spirit. Here are 101 uses of essential oils by Eden’s Garden: http://www.edensgarden.com/pages/home.
I hope you put the anti-fly spray to use and enjoy, it’s an excellent repellent! One World, One People! Thanks All!
