Natural & Edible Play Dough

When it comes to toddlers, they love tactile play. Most children enjoy play dough. Though store bought brands can be non-toxic, what parent really wants their child to chow down a tub of it? This recipe for play dough is naturally dyed using tumeric and cocoa powder. I made a brown and a bright yellow play dough. Other powered non-harming herbs can be used to achieve other colors. Play with recipe as needed.

SUPPLIES NEEDED
3.5 CUPS NON BLEACHED FLOUR
1.5 CUP KOSHER SALT
1 CUP WATER
2 TBS OLIVE OIL
4 TBS CORN STARCH

Mix your water, and cornstarch together, stirring well. Then add your oil and salt. Next slowly mix in your flour, either adding more or less until you get a solidly mixed dough. Next seperate your dough into as many pieces as you want different colors. As I added my tumeric and cocoa to my different doughs, I needed to add a little more cornstarch powder and water mixture.

This is what your dough's consistency should look like when finished. 🙂

This dough is easily cleaned up with a soapy sponge, equalling a worry free fun play time!

We had lots of fun running cars through it, creating creatures, making play food and cutting out shapes with cookie cutters!

Overall this recipe takes less than 10 minutes to make and requires no heating or cooking. It yields tons of fun! My 21 month old son, helped me make the recipe which is how easy it is. I hope you all enjoy! Natural Tidings!
